Intermediary fees
Most international money transfers use the SWIFT network to get your money safely to its destination. With SWIFT, your money could pass through one or more banks on the way to the recipient.
These ‘intermediary’ banks charge a fee. The sender can pay this in advance, or it may be taken out of the money you receive – so you’ll receive a bit less than you sent.
Receiving fees
Some banks charge recipients a fee to receive money you send them.
